Impressions of Cuba through its flora and fauna

The Republic of Cuba lies in the south of the Tropic of Cancer and has tropical climate with the Caribbean current giving it warm sea water from the equator.  Temperature can vary from average of 21 °C in January to 27 °C in July, although it was warmer when we were there in mid-June.  The warm temperatures and Cuba’s geography means the country is prone to wet seasons and hurricanes.  The country has thousands of species of animals and plants some of  which are native to Cuba; so we’ll cover just a few here in pictures commonly seen, in mostly urban environment in Havana and other provinces.

Plants on balconies and rooftops are very common in Old Town Havana and they are imaginative use of spaces available.

Rich varieties of fruit trees can be found in backyards and next door.
